January 9th 2013
After a 6 month move / rebuild, In June 2012, Translator Audio Studio was re-opened for business in their new south Park Slope, Brooklyn location. Teaming up with The South Sound (John LaMacchia - Crooked Man, Canderia) and The Civil Defense (Jeremy Scott), The new space included 2 control rooms, a beautiful large recording room, iso booths and 13 practice spaces. Translator was recording central for all the Coextinction projects.
The past tense is unfortunately not a type-o…
On the night of October 29th 2012, all of this was abruptly wiped out by hurricane Sandy. Every last piece of equipment was either under, or floating on, over 6 feet of water, which was a mix of sewage runoff and sea water.
The next morning, a large group of devastated people started in on the tedious task of going through the wreckage to salvage what we could. Many local studios and technicians have already come to the rescue, and are continuing their generous efforts in the repair / salvage process.
Thankfully, some of the equipment has already been saved! But a large part of the gear is still in question and likely un-recoverable.
Enter Cave In! Our first release of 2013 are 3 killer tracks from these east coast heroes! Recorded at the BBC in 2002 while the band was on tour in europe, all proceeds from the sale of this package will go directly to fund to rebuild Translator.
Stay tuned, we have a lot more sounds for your ear-hole coming soon!
